The 1981 American La France Pumper shown here at Station 6 (below) sometime between 1992 and 1995,
is unfortunately a picture for the museum now. The pumper along with a "TWIN SISTER " and a 100 '
American La France Aerial were welcome additions to the NLRFD in 1982. One of the two pumpers
became Engine 1. (Pumper pictured on this page) It became Engine 6 in 1992 and it became Engine 10 in 1995.
In March, 1999 the ever present danger of the Fire Service became all too apparent to the crew of
Engine 10. They suffered an accident (through no fault of their own) on the way to an alarm. The pumper
ended up on its top. (Thank GOODNESS that the firefighter had a "pocket" in which to ride instead of
the tailboard.) The crew survived and all returned to work. The pumper sat at the NLR City Yards
(a total loss) until the Spring of 2002, when it was sold at auction.
