1940 FORD PANEL TRUCK OF THE N.L.R.F.D.
This is a 1940 Ford Panel Truck which is similar to the NLRFD vehicle. There is no known photo
of the NLRFD 1940 Ford Panel Truck.
The 1947 ISO Report indicated that the NLRFD owned a 1940
Ford Panel Truck. It was used for delivering supplies to Fire Stations in the city, and it had a small pump
and booster tank for fighting grass fires. Department recording indicate a Ford Panel Truck with the
notation "No. 5" beside the description. The most intresting thing about this truck is an actual copy of
the invoice for the pump and booster tank that were ordered for it. The Panama Pump Company in
Mississippi, which is still in existence delivered a 6 GPM Pump and 110 Gallon Booster Tank, along
with booster hose to the NLRFD. The pump was mounted under the hood, and ran off the fan belt!
